06 Fragments,

2022

While creating the series Fragments, I was interested in op-art photography and was inspired mainly by François-Morellet and Margaret Watkins.

The series explores the fragments of our reality and the fragmentation of our sense of space. In François-Morellet's work "Random Distribution" the formation of small structures fascinates me. Such small formations are the focus of my experiments. In most of the photographs, I advanced from the largest element towards the smallest. By zooming in, a park is decomposed into its elements. The relation to reality is almost completely lost.
As a product of this process, abstract images reconstruct a real space. While observing the photographs we are moving on the boundary between reality and abstraction.

In two of the photographs, I have reversed this process: using Margaret Watkins' mirroring technique, I have built from small elements a new and larger space.
