01 Mine, Yours, Ours,

2023-24

Over the past years, my artistic research has focused on self-representation and visual autobiography through photography. In my diploma work (Occasions, 2022), I explored how the logotherapeutic approach can be combined with creative processes, particularly photography. Logotherapy is a form of psychotherapy developed by Viktor Frankl and places the search for meaning in the center of a person’s life. In 2023-24, I expanded this approach in the project Mine, Yours, Ours, collaborating closely with eleven participants:

How do we navigate through our lives? Can we come closer to ourselves by looking at our lives in the light of our memories, desires, experiences, and fears? And can this process help us understand each other better? During the process, participants were invited to a guided conversation based on the so-called method of guided autobiography, associated with Viktor Frankl’s student Elisabeth Lukas. In this method, a person’s life is divided into nine life phases: my parents, my childhood, my school years, my adult life, my present, my near future, my distant future, my death, and the traces I leave behind. After the conversations, participants designed an image or a short series of images for each life chapter, which were then realized photographically. The participatory nature of the work created a space for mutual learning, where the participants became co-authors of the project. In this way, photographs of personal memories convey collective stories and become an archive of emotions and recollections.

This is a completed photo series consisting of a total of 240 photographs, in 11 photo books. Each participant’s series is presented in a separate book. Eleven photo books were produced, and 28 photographs were printed.
